Many iterations of this idea have produced this - the lightest possible sprit to keep your spinnaker line from going over the bow - that DOESN’T rely on tape! No more falling off in the middle of a race! The Kablooey J22 Sprit has evolved numerous times - and through rigorous testing - what we realized is its not how far out the sprit sticks that is the design key (the spinnaker line never leaves being wrapped around the headstay) - but its unobtrusiveness. Stick out to far - and it gets broken off, or bent. Be too sharp - and it could puncture your spinnaker if you shrimp the chute (which we have done, and learned the hard way) since the top of the Sprit is rounded to prevent this. Rugged enough to hang in there, so you don’t have to worry - and easy enough to install; just remove the headstay, and slide it on your tang. (If your tang is super bent - we can accommodate - just ask!) Light enough at .67 OZ’s (19grams) to be race ready. Still - it IS made of plastic, which will not last forever (UV and stuff) - and designed NOT to be the first part of the boat to hit the bulkhead (being vertical) if you should come in a little hot - but cheap enough to make it easy to replace if needed!
